If your license is suspended, you must obtain an occupational license in order to operate a motor vehicle on public roads. For example, if your license was suspended for too many no insurance convictions, you must pay a Safety Responsibility (SR) Reinstatement fee. If your license was suspended for too many points on your driving record, you must pay a Driver Improvement (DI) Reinstatement fee. There is also the Administrative License Revocation (ALR) Reinstatement fee.

The fees will not prevent you from obtaining a court order authorizing DPS to issue an occupational license. However, DPS will not issue you the actual hard copy of the occupational license until after all reinstatement fees have been paid in full.
